The target creature must be within the range of the rite for the whole casting time (i.e. if the creature moves out of range during the casting time, the rite has no effect); most casters will bind the elemental within a ward for this purpose.

The level of the rite is equal to the [[Magic#Magic Points|magic points]] spent in its casting.

At the conclusion of this rite, provided the level of the rite is equal to or greater than the level of the target demon, the caster gains control of the demon.

For the duration of the effect, the demon must carry out every instruction given to it, to the letter. If the demon is sentient, they may interpret commands to their advantage, but must still adhere strictly to the wording.
