====Black Ball Outcomes====
Each of these skills can be used once per day; this means that e.g. a character with all three skills can collect resources a total of three times per day, using each skill once.

Black balls represent misfortune or calamity occurring while undertaking the activity. The consequences may vary from event to event. At some events, drawing a black ball may direct you to a specific location or referee and trigger an encounter. At others, you may receive a self-reffed or roleplay effect card representing hazards such as poisonous stings or bites, diseases, broken tools or weapons, temporary enchantments or possession, or getting lost in the woods.

As a general rule, drawing a black ball means no benefit is gained from the activity. However, at some events you may still receive some resources even when triggering a black ball, depending on the nature of the encounter or effect.

In addition to the separate Income and Resources skills, there are three "resource collection" skills in the Renewal campaign, which allow the character, after a suitable period of roleplaying, to go to the Game Organisational Desk and be granted carded in character resources, as follows:

  • Foraging: Raw alchemy ingredients, such as herbs, venoms and blood from rare creatures.
  • Gathering: Raw crafting materials such as timber or hide.
  • Scrounging: Coins, small crafted items or other minor valuables.

All skills function the same way: the player reports to the Game Organisational Desk and draws a coloured ball from a bag, with the colours denoting different degrees of success. Black balls denote failure, with some harmful or complicating fall-out (see below). Players using Foraging or Gathering may choose to look for a specific ingredient or just accept what they find; in the latter case, they will find more ingredients.

Each of these skills can be used once per day; this means that a character with all three skills can collect resources a total of three times per day, using each skill once.

Note: The location of the Game Organisational Desk (GOD) will always be marked on the event map circulated prior to every event.

Black Ball Outcomes
